Showing continued Partisanship, Spanberger joins Democrats and Votes to Impeach President Trump

Goochland County, VA –Today, Republican John McGuire, a former Navy SEAL, Delegate for Virginia’s 56th district and candidate for Congress in VA-07, called out Abigail Spanberger for caving to her Democrat colleagues partisan impeachment agenda and officially voting to impeach President Trump:

“After months of political maneuvering by Abigail Spanberger to deceive voters on her impeachment stance, today Spanberger caved to Nancy Pelosi’s partisan plans and voted to impeach President Trump. While Spanberger claims this is a matter of ‘principle’ Central Virginians know this is only a matter of partisanship,” said John McGuire.

“Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Abigail Spanberger have made a mockery of a serious constitutional process all because they know they can’t defeat President Trump at the ballot box. Now, voters across Virginia are fired up to make sure politicians like Spanberger who put hatred for President Trump over getting results are beat in November.”

John continued, “As a former Navy SEAL, I know what service means. I’m ready to go to Congress to oppose Democrats’ resistance and work with the President to keep growing our economy and putting Americans first.”

After running for Congress as a so-called moderate and independent, Spanberger had long sidestepped her fellow Democrats’ calls for impeachment. However, Spanberger voted for Nancy Pelosi’s initial inquiry and has come under fire from constituents for supporting impeachment. In a recent town hall, Spanberger noted that President Trump had not proven himself innocent, stating, “No one has dispelled or attempted to dispel or provide evidence that would exonerate the President.”

John McGuire was born and raised in Henrico County. Following graduation, John’s call to service lead him to the U.S. Navy.  After ten years of service as a Navy SEAL, he settled back down in Virginia where he founded a small business, SEAL Team PT Inc., a fitness company. Now more than two decades later, that company helps train Division 1 athletes and corporations all over the world.

In 2017, John was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates as a representative for District 56, which covers Goochland, Louisa and parts of Henrico and Spotsylvania counties. John has fought for lower taxes and better services for our veterans, law enforcement, and first responders.
