Former 7th District Rep Tom Bliley endorses John McGuire for Congress
Goochland, VA– Former Mayor of the city of Richmond and longtime Congressional and GOP leader Tom Bliley endorsed John McGuire for Congress today.
“John McGuire has spent his life serving our country, in the military, in the community, and now in the General Assembly. He is a proven winner and has delivered massive Republican victories in 2017 and 2019, winning in key precincts in Henrico County, where he was born and raised. In the General Assembly, he has fought for his constituents and gotten things done despite significant opposition. If elected to Congress, John will be a fantastic servant and deliver that same fighting spirit to Washington. For these reasons and more, I am proud to support John McGuire for Congress.”
Former Rep. Bliley was elected as mayor in Richmond in 1970 and served until 1977. He served in Congress from 1981-2001.
“I am very proud to receive the endorsement of Tom Bliley,” McGuire said. “Tom served our Commonwealth and country in the US Navy, as Vice Mayor and Mayor of the City of Richmond, as well as the Congressman for the 3rd and 7th Congressional Districts – eventually becoming Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Tom’s impact, not only in our region, but nationwide, is something few in public service accomplish. I am humbled and honored to receive his support.”
A staunch supporter of President Trump, John was recognized in 2019 by the American Conservative Union as one of the top three reliable conservatives in the Virginia General Assembly.
